RALLY WITH ME
The NYC Marathon is something I've only hoped to participate in for a very long time. To be able to finally get a chance to while supporting those with special needs is just a dream come true.
If anyone knows me knows it's a lifelong mission of mine to help those with intellectual disabilities. My mom's brother, Uncle Johnny, had a severe learning disability. Growing up with him showed me the struggles and hardships he went through, especially inclusivity. RallyCap Sports has been able to provide people with special needs the opportunity to play sports for over 30 years. I know he would have loved to have been a RallyCap Sports player if he were still here.
RallyCap Sports is a non-profit organization that developed a sports program specifically designed for people with special needs; utilizing special equipment, coaching techniques, and drills to help each player experience social integration, healthy living, and greater self-confidence.
Our RallyCap Sports players are some of the most gifted people I've ever met and they never let their disABILITIES affect their ABILITIES. I've had the privilege of being a volunteer and board member for years and I feel so blessed to be able to work with such an amazing group of people.
I will be running the NYC Marathon for our RallyCap Sports players, Uncle Johnny, and you, because you are just a part of this race as I am. Because of your support, we're one step closer to creating a world where people with special needs can share in the joy of sports.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much not only for supporting me, but for supporting every single person with special needs who deserves the same opportunities as everyone else.
