Growing up playing sports and now pursuing a career in physical medicine and rehabilitation, the accessibility of sports for the disabled and special needs community is a cause close to my heart. Watching these athletes compete showed me that there are no limits to the joys that running 50 meters can bring. It showed me that each person, regardless of ability, deserves to experience the camaraderie of competition and satisfaction of executing a skill after months of practice. I believe people with special needs deserve the opportunity to experience the amazing benefits of being active and engaging with others through sports.
